Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
